Travel insurance carriers release position statements when current events affect coverage. The following is a position statement from Travel Guard on the mudslides in Peru.
Peru has been experiencing multiple mudslides recently due to the heavy rains in the region. A mudslide on 03/27 killed 5 and another on 04/01/10 killed 20 people in a nearby region. Insurance would have to have been purchased by 03/26/10 for coverage. Coverage for mudslides would be based on the plan purchased and that plan’s Description of Coverage.
