Social housing fraud could cost £2bn a year

Landlord insurance clients will be amazed by research showing the scale of fraud in the social housing sector. The global information company Experian believes that social housing fraud could be much greater than previously thought. They have looked at 125,000 social housing arrangements at ten UK local authorities and housing associations and concluded that across the whole UK fraud could exist at as many as 150,000 properties.

One of the frauds is for a tenant on a low, secured rent to move out and sublet to a tenant paying a higher, market rent.
